The Bountiful Harvest!!

So it has been a few days/weeks since I blogged and a lot has happened in the garden.  I have taken in about 36 cucumbers, 4 very good sized zucchinis and 4 yellow squash.  I also harvested lots of lettuce and cabbage.

The level is 18″.

Today I decide to display our accomplishments.

I made strawberry jam and zucchini muffins.  We have also been busy at the local winery bottling wine.  So overall the harvest is turning out well.  I also staked my tomatoes and today I started relocating my onions and leeks. I finally decided to separate them.  After I planted them from the cello cups I found out that they were supposed to be separated.  I couldn’t be bothered, but then I planted some onion bulbs and decided that I should separate them.  They were pretty easy to separate with a little tugging.  Unfortunately I could use more space so things are getting crowded and I planted the onions and leeks wherever I had space.

I made three types of strawberry jam using three different pectins.  The light one is strawberry rhubarb with no sugar pectin.  I see when I turn it on its side that it is a bit runny.  Oh well the other two are fine.  The dark one is just strawberries (full sugar) and the medium one is strawberry rhubarb pineapple (half sugar).

Willem likes the muffins!
