Crazy around here!!

Well it has been crazy around here the last month.  Our nanny left, I still haven’t found a suitable housekeeper for our place and the motel and it is nearly Halloween!!!  I just realized tonight that I don’t think we’ve unpacked the baby’s Halloween costume.

My oldest cat, Sookie, died on Thanksgiving and we adopted 3 cats to take her place, one just would’t do, so now we have 4 cats again.

Plus our doe had her babies so we have 10 rabbits.  In two more weeks they’ll be ready to go.  I have someone wanting two of them now. I’ve grown attached to two of them and one of those I had planned to keep (Butterscotch), so we’ll see how it goes.

GJ has finished redoing the deck and has one of the two gates built already.  He also has to put all of the railings back. I have half of my potted lilies planted in the front and I still have all of my bulbs to plant and some of them to dig up as they don’t overwinter.  The grass could be mowed and fertilized now too if I can get the time.

I started painting our nanny’s old room and we are going to turn it into a library and extra office for my husband.  That will mean that our Motel office can be an office again and I will move the animals to that room so we can start renovating our ensuite bathroom this winter.

I also decided to start my aquarium up again and I will be getting the fish for it tomorrow, lots of entertainment for the cats.

GJ will move on to building the chicken coop once the last gate is done also.  So much to do, so much to do.

The motel was fully rented in October and it looks like it will be fully rented for November as well.  One guy moved out today and another moved is within a few hours.  And I only have one room available for rent in Ottawa.

We had frost a few times but the last time (Thanksgiving weekend) I didn’t cover the plants and the peppers and egg plants died.  I harvested all of the peppers and egg plants and we froze a lot of them.  We drove our wagon around the motel over that weekend and the stuff I didn’t think we’d be able to use on time we gave to our guests.

The haul!!!

Peppers, peppers and more peppers!!!  Can you believe how many we have here?

Well this growing season is over.  I still have some pumpkins, brussel sprouts and onions in the garden left to be pulled in.  I wanted to carve one or two for Halloween, hope I have time.

I am looking at seed catalogues for next year though.
